In October 2018, Dr. Nelson founded Skylight Neuropsychology. She provides comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations in a bright, beautiful office (with skylights of course!) in the Madison Valley neighborhood of Seattle.

Dr. Nelson worked as a pediatric neuropsychologist in the Boston area for 6 years before moving back to the Pacific Northwest. In Boston, she provided neuropsychological evaluations for hundreds of children who needed help unlocking their potential. She spoke frequently with parents and professional groups about thinking and learning. Dr. Nelson also gave talks to and was involved in training students studying clinical psychology at numerous prestigious local universities, including Harvard University, Suffolk Univeristy, and the University of Rhode Island.

As part of her training, Dr. Nelson completed a year-long clinical internship in pediatric neuropsychology and child/adolescent psychology at the University of Minnesota Medical School. She remained at the University of Minnesota for her two-year post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology. For those three years, she worked with children with very complex learning, medical, and neurodevelopmental disorders, as well as social-emotional and behavioral problems.

Dr. Nelson lives with her family in Seattle, where she was born and raised. She loves the outdoors and enjoys hiking, kayaking, and exploring. She also loves animals and presently shares her home with Zoey, her boxer/lab rescue. Dr. Nelson is actively involved in her community, previously serving as secretary and then vice chair of the Board of Directors for Easter Seals Washington. She volunteers as a reader for the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library. On weekends, you might find her doing trail maintenance with the Washington Trails Association
